Summary
Functions as member of interdisciplinary team by organizing and providing quality neonatal and pediatric patient care and ground or air transport services to sick or injured patients.
Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at LeBonheur Children s Hospital.

REQUIRED:
Successful completion of a Paramedic program
Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a paramedic in an emergency setting or six (6) years of experience as an Emergency Medical Technician
Minimum of two (2) years experience driving an ambulance
Must have the following requirements upon hire:
- Licensed as Critical Care Paramedic in the state of Tennessee.
- Nationally registered as Paramedic through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians
- Certified Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C) or Certified Flight Paramedic (FP-C)
- CPR, ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS certifications
Must have the following additional requirements within six months date of hire:
- Licensed as Paramedic in the state of Mississippi and Arkansas.
- Mississippi EMS Driver certification
- NRP and STABLE certifications
- Ventilator Transport Certification through MLH Patient Transport services
- Valid class D drivers license with F endorsement from the state of Tennessee and acceptable motor vehicle record and insurability.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Working knowledge of emergency care procedures and techniques and a thorough understanding of their application in the medical transportation environment.
- Demonstrates competencies that incorporate age-specific guidelines, including N - Neonate (less than 30 days), I - Infant (30 days to 1 year), EC - Early Childhood (1-5 years), LC - Late Childhood (5-13 years), A - Adolescent (13-17 years), AD - Adult, and ALL - all ages.
- Demonstrates high critical thinking and reasoning skills and strong attention to detail.
- Knowledgable and competent in psychomotor skills outlined under the scope of practice of a Paramedic.

Key Job Responsibilities
- Works collaborately with other Pediflite team members to provide high quality pre-hospital and inter-facility advanced critical care.
- Transports patients via ground or air while practicing in accordance with philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards of the hospital.
Functions within the guidelines of the protocols for the transport program. - Responsible for assisting the team leader in obtaining pertinent neonatal and child hood histories, performing physical assessments and management plans.
Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the scope of practice of a paramedic. - Identifies, plans, implements, and evaluates the stabilization of emergency care of the acutely ill neonates, infants, children, and/or adolescents as team lead or in collaboration with the team leader and medical control physicians.
- Performs diagnosistic and therapeutic procedures as indicate for identification and management of problems including airway management and assessment.
This include but not limited to endotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation. - Initiates and manages ventilators, Central Venous access devices, accesses and manages invasive lines such as PICC, Portal, hickman catheters central and arterial lines.
Initiates and manages surgical airways and chest tubes.
Performs and interprets 12-lead electrocardiograms. - Functions as a medical flight member by attending pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings and completes necessary documentation.
Assists in pre-mission liftoff checklist and assists pilot as requested, i.
e.
, radio, navigational, and visual observation activities. - Complies with safety standards to assure safety of self, medical personnel, patient, and equipment.
Conducts aircraft safety briefings as needed. - May perform as team leader and assist in delivery of patient care using age and developmentally appropriate interventions according to individual licensure, departmental protocols, and standards of care.
Physical Requirements
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The Associate is subject to both environmental conditions:
activities occur inside and outside. - The Associate may be required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- The physical requirements of this position are:

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
