Gerdau is currently seeking a Maintenance Engineer (Electrical) for its Jackson, TN facility.

Responsibilities:
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for staying current with technology and recommending changes to effect continual improvement in the production process. The incumbent should also possess a broad knowledge of engineering concepts, techniques, and processes.
Due to close contact with operating management and employees, outside contractors and vendors, the position requires the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of personalities and interests and make appropriate recommendations regarding the selection and purchase of materials, services and equipment for use in the projects.
Assist in the development of strategic capital spending plans and major capital projects/equipment upgrades, $5MM, as well as providing functional expertise toward improvements in quality and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
Coordinates interdisciplinary teams including the employees involved in the designated installation and construction projects at the Jackson plant, and supervise subcontractors related to projects, assuring compliance to specifications and with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, safety requirements and permits pertaining to or issued to the plant.
Responsible for training and education of new employees and follow-up of work performed, to include training of all employees/contractors who support equipment and installations in the plant.
Maintenance Engineer must have high availability depending of the requirement of the projects and will be a help chain resource for operational breakdown and system failures.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required

years of progressive engineering responsibility in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge and experience in PLCs and HMI systems , DC / AC Drives, transformers, motors, instrumentation and a thorough understanding of low and medium voltage
Full-cycle project management skills, including the ability to solicit bids, preparing project budgets and schedules, and supervising consulting engineers for detailed design of plant layout and electrical equipment
Familiarity with heavy industrial operations/similar, such as overhead cranes, hydraulic systems, pumps, gearboxes, compressed air, combustion and water systems, mechanical requirements and limitations, and other ancillary systems.
Proficiency in MS-Office, scheduling and/or project management software, SAP and CAD
Must be able to apply engineering fundamentals to the continuous improvement efforts of business objectives through investment planning and execution.
Must possess good communication skills, have the ability to present and articulate ideas, be detail-oriented, and comfortable working in team setting with employees at all levels within the organization.
Should have experience managing improvement projects from the Annual Action Plan
Candidate should be able to analyze area performance in Productivity, Safety, Costs, Delays and recommend/implement improvements
Candidate should have experience conducting Improvement Projects such as 6 Sigma, QIS or Kaizen events
