Jackson State Community College Job Summary The purpose of this position is to coordinate the outreach and recruiting functions for JSCC following targeted markets identified in the SEM plan and responding quickly to new/emerging markets using direct recruitment strategies.
To hold up-to-date and comprehensive information about the programs and services offered at JSCC.
Supervise, train and coordinate recruiting staff, to provide a professional, informed and helpful approach to sharing details about JSCC opportunities and enrolling students.
Provide guidance and leadership in regards to all efforts to recruit prospective students.
To successfully collaborate with involved areas (admissions, dual enrollment, orientation, marketing) to provide clarity and non-duplication of effort when supporting new students at JSCC.
Job Duties 25% - Collaborates with a variety of partners to improve enrollment.
a) Collaborates with the Marketing Department to promote JSCC in the district.
Provides the strategies and forums to present information regarding JSCC programs and opportunities in person through presentations, events and other direct recruiting strategies.
Serves as the point of contact for any event specifically purposed for student recruitment.
b) Creates and maintains effective channels of communication with high school administrators, parents, agency directors and staff, in order to effectively recruit students.
c) Administers new and creative methods to increase enrollment that directly impacts the college revenues, including directives on activities with partners in the region and state.
Targeted recruitment and outreach strategies to a variety of populations such as Parents, Tennessee Promise and Tennessee Reconnect students, business and industry and Clients of social agencies.
d) Serves as a liaison to applicable external agencies, businesses, high schools, the community and general public, and internal departments for the purpose of facilitating student enrollment processes and resources.
e) Partners with high school counselors to share information about programs and services, and enrollment timelines for JSCC.
- (Essential) 35% - Directs the planning and staffing of outreach and recruitment activities and events.
a) Maintains current knowledge of JSCC programs and services in order to represent the college accurately and in a positive light.
Promotes low-cost, high-quality programs leading to certificates and degrees designed to put students in the workforce or on university campuses.
b) Create, innovate, and respond to changing needs of Potential Students as they explore and become familiar with campus, enroll, and negotiate college systems.
c) Maintains current knowledge of transfer pathways credits and costs, can describe and support FAFSA application processes correctly, is aware of local foundation scholarships, and comprehends and supports JSCC application requirements.
d) Understands program features, processes and opportunities associated with Dual Enrollment.
Understands and can explain State level programs designed to support students including Promise, Reconnect, Lottery scholarships, and Tennessee Higher Education Commission and Student Assistance Corporation for Dual Enrollment grants and payments.
e) Ensures recruitment staff are well informed, knowledgeable, professional and dependable as they speak for JSCC in the district and provide initial enrollment steps for prospective students and applicants.
f) Provides high quality, effective service through learning and continuous improvement.
g) Creates, maintains, and publishes a calendar of recruitment activities and widely distributes the Enrollment Deadline dates for students, parents, and agencies.
h) Maintains recruiter assignments by school for the purpose of processing students, grades and grants i) Receives student rosters for Dual enrollment registration opportunities j) Ensures student handbook accurately represents the enrollment processes and supports.
k) Responsible for the coordination of outreach activities -such as campus tours or Promise and Financial Aid workshops- for all and any interested potential students in the district.
- (Essential) 25% - Supports the college enrollment goals as expressed in the SEM plan through providing appropriate time and attention to identified target populations.
a) Communicates needs for materials and support from Marketing in efforts to recruit a diversity of students as is called for in the JSCC Strategic Enrollment Management Plan.
b) Assists with admissions and facilitates checklist completion, including handling transcripts, and processing as needed.
c) Collaborates with Dual enrollment personnel and JSCC Advising personnel other stakeholders to develop orientation materials and opportunities to prepare student for success.
d) Oversees the development and maintenance of Dual Enrollment timelines, handbooks, and other promotional materials for students and counselors.
e) Coordinates for the appropriate application, placement, orientation, registration and enrollment of all Dual Enrollment students in accordance with college, TBR and TSAC policy.
f) Creates similar outreach and enrollment processes for other targeted populations.
g) Embraces and leverages appropriate technology to accomplish job functions and account for job requirements.
- (Essential) 15% - Administrative duties.
a.
Collaborate to create messaging, materials and content for department's use.
b.
Prepare and administer budgets for program activities and services to maximize financial benefit to both the college and students.
c.
Provides accountability for strategic planning efforts of the department.
d.
Responds to other administrative requirements of reporting, managing, etc.
e.
Hires, reviews, recommends development, retention or dismissal.
- (Marginal) Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Business-Marketing, Entrepreneurial or Social Science.
1-2 years of experience of customer service and office processes.
2-4 years of experience as a college recruiter, participant intake and personnel supervision.
Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of effective communication strategies and platforms, recruitment and outreach methods and strategies, accountability tools, event management, and effective supervision and training, professional decorum.
Analyze and resolve problems, systems understanding, planning and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, effective communication skills including listening and public speaking, conflict resolution and customer service skills, motivate and inspire.
Proficient with budgeting, planning and recordkeeping.
Pay Rate:
$59,766 - $74,707 Annual salary depending on eligible experience which is defined by the current compensation plan.
