4 Quick Apply Full-time 12 hours ago Full Job Description Responsible for performing sleep studies and related polysomnographic evaluations.
Under the general supervision of the Manager of Sleep disorders Center; responsible for performing polysomnographic recording and all technical duties related to the polysomnographic evaluation of sleep disorders on assigned shift, 3-5 days a week with 72 or 80 hours per payroll period.
The employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.
Performs patient hook-ups, patient and machine calibrations, and recording according to established protocol and standard procedures.
Produces optimal recordings of EOG, EMG.
EKG, SA02, Airflow Impedance, and Nasal Utilizes ancillary monitoring/recording equipment that must be interfaced with the electroencephalograph and polygraph machine.
Continuously monitors patient activity - ensures patient safety and maintains quality Performs equipment cleaning, minor repairs, and reports the need for any major repairs to the Inventories supplies, repairs, and informs Manager of materials needed.
Performs related work as required in data collection and record keeping.
Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department.
Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
EDUCATION:
Skill and proficiency in the principles, concepts and techniques of the Sleep Disorders profession.
Such proficiency is required through training in polysomnographic technology course and/or training in related paramedical specialty, e.
g.
EEG, EKG, EMT, Respiratory Care, or Nursing.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:
BRPT, NBRC, or ABSM Certification preferred.
Technicians not certified by the BRPT (Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists), NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care), or ABSM (American Board of Sleep Medicine) will need to be enrolled in A-STEP, or enrolled in a CoA PSG training program or a CoA END or CoARC training program that has the add-on track for polysomnography.
A-Step must be completed within 6 months of enrollment.
RPSGT examination must be taken and passed at first available date offered by BRPT or CRT-SDS/RRT-SDS examination must be taken and passed at first available date offered by NBRC or RST examination must be taken and passed at first available date offered by ABSM.
Maintain a current Tennessee State License.
Certified in basic Cardiac Life Support by AHA or the equivalent.
Experience:
Proficiency in current practices and techniques of Sleep Disorders profession as acquired through 6 months on the job experience and the knowledge of department and hospital policies and procedures as acquired through 4-6 weeks of orientation.
